Connected with the right resources and training, rural farmers and agribusinesses can improve production and gain greater access to economic opportunities.
The primary objective of the USAID Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Caribbean Basin Program, implemented by Partners of the Americas, is to generate rapid, sustained, and broad-based economic growth in the agriculture sectors of the target countries—Guatemala, Jamaica, Guyana, and the Dominican Republic. Through this objective, F2F tackles the underlying factors that lead to migration to the U.S., including poverty, youth unemployment, natural disasters, and a lack of economic opportunities. The second goal of F2F is to increase the U.S. public’s comprehension of international development issues and programs, as well as international understanding of the U.S. government and U.S. foreign aid initiatives. F2F achieves this by assigning technical experts from the U.S. to train beneficiaries in target countries and build their technical capacity. These experts learn from their experiences and transmit valuable knowledge from target countries to U.S. industries.
This cultural exchange enhances public awareness of international development issues, improves perceptions of the U.S. abroad, and strengthens diplomatic relations.
By fostering stability and prosperity in neighboring countries, F2F supports U.S. goals while advancing sustainable development.
