Ian MacNairn is the Mauritania Country Director and Chief of Party for the USDA Food for Progress Mauritania Horticulture Project in the Senegal River Valley. He has over 30 years of experience in the fields of agriculture, food security, resilience, humanitarian assistance, and disaster risk management in Africa, Haiti, and Central America. The program will aim to increase horticultural production and support its value chain within Mauritania’s linked markets, and include private sector partners.
Ian holds a master’s degree in international economics and international development from the Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies. He served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Botswana, teaching agriculture and science.
