Join Us: An Invitation from Paraíba Chapter

I’m Izolda Carvalho, newly elected President of the Paraíba Chapter in Brazil, inviting collaboration with Partners chapters across the network. We’re particularly seeking a U.S. chapter partner and eager to work with chapters sharing our interests in education, environmental action, and community development. We’re also expanding our university relationships beyond current connections.

We have already initiated the process of establishing a cooperation with the Federal University of Paraíba through their Agency for International Cooperation, with the aim of launching our activities at a Partners Campus branch there.

As a pedagogue and English teacher since 1989 with a master’s in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, I bring extensive education and sales experience. Our board includes professors and students from engineering, health, education, and business.

The Paraíba chapter has 60 years of history, previously partnering with Connecticut until 2015. Located in João Pessoa, where “the sun rises first in the Americas,” our programs include Project Você na Direção Certa (entrepreneurship education), Project Canaã de Alfabetização (connecting volunteers with students to combat low literacy), and Project Saci Pererê (folklore and music workshops). Our environmental initiatives include sea turtle protection and school gardens.

Through the Federal University of Paraíba’s partnerships with the University of Tennessee and Texas Tech, we’re positioned for academic exchanges and looking to add other universities. We’re especially interested in collaborating on environmental education, media literacy, sports development, and cultural programs combining academic excellence with community impact.

Your partnership would be greatly valued and essential to the success of this endeavor.

Yours faithfully,
