Sadly, Robert Honts, a founder and dedicated leader of the Partners Texas Chapter for over 50 years, passed away in late November. As a true public servant, Bob had an immense impact on Partners of the Americas and the communities he served.
In 1971, Bob led a Texas Partners Relief Mission to Peru to provide aid and support to the country after the cataclysmic 1970 Ancash earthquake. During his time there, Bob and other members of the Texas Chapter worked diligently to spread awareness and raised over a million dollars in pledges.
When Bob gave a presentation about this relief mission at the 2018 What Works Conference, he said, “With you all here it’s proof that [the idea of serving] has passed down the generations.” At the Conference, Bob received an award for devoting over five decades of service to Partners.
Current Texas Chapter President Iliana Queirolo Diaz said Bob was a special friend and change-leader: “Bob was always delighted to work with our members. His loyalty, commitment, and influence on behalf of Partners were priceless for us during a pivotal time in our Texas Chapter history. Among the several awards he received was a lifetime award as well the Texas flag that flew over the Capitol during the 50th anniversary of the Texas Partners of the Americas Chapter.”
Bob’s family plans to hold a memorial in the coming year to celebrate Bob’s life, once it is safe to do so. Please send an email to BobHontsMemorial@gmail.com if you would like to be notified when this event is scheduled.
We send love and peace to Bob’s family and friends.
