Chief of Party – Agriculture Development Programs (Global)

Position Summary 
The Chief of Party (COP) will lead a multi-country agriculture development initiative focused on improving productivity, market access, food security, and rural incomes. The COP will oversee technical programming, partnerships, operations, and results delivery across diverse agricultural systems and value chains. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for program implementation. 
  • Manage cross-functional technical teams covering production, markets, agribusiness, finance, climate resilience, and nutrition. 
  • Lead partnerships with governments, producer organizations, private sector actors, and research institutions. 
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of agriculture interventions aligned with program objectives. 
  • Oversee financial management, compliance, reporting, and performance monitoring. 
  • Drive learning, innovation, and adaptive management approaches. 
  • Represent the program with donors, stakeholders, and regional platforms. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree in agriculture, economics, rural development, international development, or related field. 
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in agriculture development programs, including senior leadership roles. 
  • Strong technical background in value chains, market systems, and smallholder farmer engagement. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex, multi-partner programs. 
  • Proven success in donor-funded program leadership and compliance. 
  • Excellent team leadership and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages preferred. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior Chief of Party or Deputy COP experience on large development programs. 
  • Experience in public-private partnerships and inclusive agribusiness models. 
  • Background in climate-smart agriculture or resilience programming.
