Partners has been working in Uruguay since 1967, when the Uruguay and Minnesota Chapters were founded. The Chapter’s efforts to advance judicial reform in Uruguay played a crucial role in the creation of the country’s first probation system. In 2013, Uruguay hosted the Conference on Alternatives to Incarceration, Latin America’s first-ever international conference on prison reform. In addition to our work in prison reform, Partners is recognized in Uruguay for our youth, educational, cultural, and professional exchanges.
