This year has been challenging for many, not only in the Americas but around the world. We have been witness to a global pandemic, an increase in natural disasters, racial injustices, and more. At Partners of the Americas, our organizational values include service, partnership, impact, resilience, respect, empowerment, and sustainability. We believe that these guiding values can help us get through even the most challenging times, together. In a step to do our part, Partners created a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee in July 2020 to review the organization’s policies and activities and to ensure that the organization continues to maintain its goal of being a diverse and inclusive organization.
The DEI Committee includes formalizing an organizational statement on the commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, creating a DEI Action Plan to act as a roadmap over the next several years, and developing a monitoring and evaluation plan to evaluate progress and address areas that may need improvement or modifications. This Committee aims to facilitate the internal dialogue that encourages staff and board members to reflect and listen to each other to design POA’s DEI policy and create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture and work environment.
