Partners of the Americas has developed partnerships with Cuba over the past years in the fields of Youth and Sports, Higher Education, Agriculture, and Arts & Culture.
Most recently, Partners is working with Cuba in Higher Education through the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Initiative, seeking to connect high quality Cuban educational institutions with counterparts in the United States for mutual benefit and increased study abroad in both directions. The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund has already made an award-winning innovation grant to a Cuban-U.S. partnership earlier this year. New partnerships will soon be announced.
Matt Clausen, Senior Vice President for Public-Private Partnerships and Senior Director of the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund, is in Cuba the week of October 26-31 for the First Annual Workshop of Strategic Alliances for the Internationalization of Higher Education (CubaTies 2015), where he will present on Partners' work in the higher education field. This marks the first time that a Partners staff member travels to Cuba on official business.
