Senior Communications Officer

Partners of the Americas is seeking to hire a Senior Communications Officer to drive the content and creative strategy for Partners. This position acts as a critical liaison between administrative, membership, and program units at Partners to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across products and platforms. The Senior Communications Officer is in the unique position to share the story of the organization and our impact by collaborating closely with over a dozen international development programs and a grassroots chapter network across 30 countries.

The ideal candidate is a generalist who is comfortable wearing many hats and has experience managing competing priorities and deadlines. Self-starters with energy and willingness to learn will be granted the opportunity to grow and learn at a quick pace. This is an excellent position for someone with a few years of communications experience under their belt and looking to put a myriad of skills to the test in a dynamic organization that supports strong performers.


Web Development

  • Maintain webpages that require regular maintenance, including the Partners and 100,000 Strong in the Americas websites
  • Provide insight and content strategy for a web redesign project
  • Manage the blog, soliciting authors and stories from programs and the network
  • Manage external graphic designer to produce graphics for the website or produce in-house
  • Manage Google AdWords account with external consultant

Social Media Engagement

  • Update Facebook and Twitter regularly
  • Create graphics to accompany all posts
  • Integrate social media platforms into larger social media strategy that identifies priority content
  • Manage editorial calendar and work with staff internally to publish news, updates, stories etc.
  • Boost posts and monitor budget and analytics to ensure strong ROI

Email Marketing

  • Produce the monthly newsletter to the Partners Network
  • Manage the editorial calendar for messages to the Network to ensure
  • Manage and segment the email lists to ensure clean data and relevant information

Media/External Relations

  • Draft and disseminate press releases
  • Serve as point of contact for all media inquiries
  • Utilize media monitoring platform and track analytics, earned media
  • Grow relationships with reporters, journalists, and other influencers
  • Develop press kits for major events and announcements
  • Manage relationships with donors and partners to ensure that they receive visibility and align with the Partners brand
  • Identify influencers or multipliers who can support Partners messaging
  • Manage external vendors and consultants to support technical work


  • Ensure that the Partners brand is upheld across all external documents, graphics, and messaging
  • Manage the Partners logo and its proper use, as well as those of the organization’s programs and donors
  • Develop and produce branded promotional products
  • Align the content and creative materials in the office with the strategic plan of the organization, ensuring alignment and consistency

Major Publications

  • Manage the production of the annual report, either in-house or with external consultants
  • Support other major publications and curricula development

Photo/Video Support

  • Provide photography support at events or major announcements
  • Shoot interviews with stakeholders to capture their story
  • Manage production of short videos

Research, Monitoring, & Evaluation

  • Research best practices in communications and remain up-to-date on the latest trends in the field
  • Develop evaluation plans and actively measure and monitor social and digital media analytics, utilizing data to refine strategy and strengthen results



  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or relevant discipline
  • 2-3 years experience in communications, marketing, or PR; minimum 5 years of full-time work experience
  • Excellent English writing skills, especially for digital media
  • Oral and written proficiency in Spanish; knowledge of Portuguese/French a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment, process information quickly, and balance priorities in a timely and professional manner.


  • Experience working at a nonprofit or membership association
  • Experience living or working in Latin America
  • Experience with database and email marketing platforms - Salesforce, YourMembership, Informz
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing software - Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience managing external vendors or consultants
  • Experience with website management - Drupal, Wordpress, Google AdWords, SEO
