What Works 2018 Awards Ceremony

11 (2).jpgPartners of the Americas is driven by our members and we always need to ensure that we recognize and celebrate those spectacular volunteers, donors and other supporters who have contributed to Partners’ success each year. We presented awards to esteemed individuals during the What Works 2018 Conference gala dinner at the El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel on December 6.​

The Warmth of Partnership

paulalaschobersquare.jpgThe Washington State-Chile Chapter is keeping children warm through collaboration. When Chilean Partners traveler and school principal Luis Bravo attended a reception by the Washington State Chapter, he commented that his low-income school had no heat. The Washington Partners Board members then sprung into action.

 

Open Doors Report 2017 Recap

Yesterday, in celebration of International Education Week #IEW2017, we attended the Institute of International Education’s (IIE) Open Doors 2017 briefing at the National Press Club. This year’s Open Doors report shows both improvements and declines in study abroad to and from the United States. Overall, the U.S. saw a 3.4% increase in international students and a 4% increase in U.S. students studying abroad.

ECPA Tackling Environmental Pollution, Climate Change in Chile

On March 17, I had the pleasure of accompanying Dr. Mariapaz Gutierrez, Senior Fellow at the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) and professor of Architecture at the University of California-Berkeley, on several meetings during her visit to Santiago, Chile. Dr. Gutierrez specializes in developing sustainable designs for buildings and urban infrastructure.
