PartnersCampus Goiânia (GYNCampus) celebrated its first leadership retreat on July 19 to empower young people to serve their community.
About 40 participants from the GYNCampus chapter and professional chapter in Goiania attended the retreat, in the state of Goiás, Brazil. During the event, participants engaged in lectures and activities to increase their project management skills and productivity.
The chapter members and local youth watched talks about leadership development and emotional intelligence. There were also activities focusing on the aspects of working as a group in a dynamic way. Toward the end of the event, some participants shared experiences of their volunteer work abroad.
The retreat was based on the Partners of the America’s motto: Connect, Serve, Change Lives. It followed the mission by showing leaders from Goiás the importance of service and working together. Through creating new leaders and volunteer projects in our community, we seek to make changes to our environment for the better.
Following our motto, “Development through Empowerment,” PartnersCampus Goiania has worked to make changes in our community to create change in the world, not as an effective actor, but as the tool used by the actors. The leadership retreat was another way in which we strive to help the local community, preparing the leaders of tomorrow for their legacies.
